The Lord's Prayer and the Rosary

Hi everyone – I was reading a magazine last night and found an interesting paragraph at the bottom of one of the pages.  Paraphrasing, the article stated that it has been found that saying the Lord’s Prayer makes us happier! They said that because the Lord’s Prayer covers every aspect of our lives, it impacts more of our brain and especially the areas that affect our mood in a positive way.  They ran a test and had one person saying the Lord’s Prayer, one person reciting a poem and one person asking Santa Claus for things they wanted to receive.  Reciting the Lord’s Prayer won in the happiness category hands down.  They even said that asking Santa Claus for material things actually impacted the brain in a negative way!

So, having read that article, I have to say that praying the Lord’s Prayer has definitely impacted my life in a good way!  My parents, bless their souls, taught me to pray the Lord’s Prayer very early in life and until I was a teenager, they said the prayer with me every night before I went to sleep.  This was amazing actually because even though they very much believed in God, Jesus, etc., they did not attend church.  It must have been a ritual their own parents did with one or both of them when they were little.  Regardless, I grew up not only knowing the Lord’s Prayer, but praying it every night before sleep.  I always found comfort in believing that there was a higher power watching over me.  I used to play a naughty game with my parents to stay up just a little longer by asking them to explain every aspect of the prayer to me.  My agenda started out mildly sinister, but the end result was very revealing and instructional.  Since I didn’t attend Sunday School or church, it was a least something that was spiritual in nature that followed me throughout my life. 

Getting Happy Praying the Rosary

It’s time we all practiced a nice way to get happier and fill our hearts with more joy that we can hold by praying the Rosary, which has us saying the Lord’s Prayer 6 times! I do feel better each time I pray the Rosary, don’t you?  If you would like to start praying the Rosary, get one or dust yours off and start a daily practice that has been proven to bring happiness into your life!
