I was talking to a good friend today and the subject of traffic tickets came up. My friend has a traffic ticket tips website, http://www.mytraffictickettips.com. I told him a story about a time when there was construction on the road near my house. The speed limit was well posted at 25 miles per hour. One morning I was in a hurry to get somewhere as usual and seeing that there was no one working on the road - it was basically deserted - I drove at the normal speed of 45 miles per hour. Lo and behold, there was one lonely motorcycle policeman waiting there for someone like me, in this case, me, to speed by him. Naturally, he followed me, made me stop, gave me a ticket and then proceeded to leave the area. I was left sitting in my car feeling very much a victim of a policeman who needed to fill his quota of tickets for the day. I understand there are no quotas, but they do need to show a fair amount of tickets at the end of the day so their bosses know they were doing their job! That is understandable, but what I didn’t understand is why he chose my area and why he picked me. Now, since then I have attended traffic school to avoid points being added to my driver’s license and to avoid my insurance going up, and learned that there doesn’t have to be any construction on a road for the posted speed limit to be enforced. I learned that we must follow the posted speed limits on a road no matter what! It seemed unfair to me at the moment and still does somewhat, but I have made peace with the situation and I did learn a lot of good safety tips at driving school that I still put into practice.
What Does This Story Have to do with Praying the Rosary?
So, what does a speeding ticket story have to do with praying the Rosary? He waited for me! Sometimes I picture God just waiting and waiting and waiting to hear from us. He is so patient and loving. He just parks his motorcycle, so to speak, and waits. When He does hear from us, He teaches us important lessons about life and how to stay safe in our world. He teaches us how to forgive ourselves and others and he teaches us tips that serve us when needed. Jesus taught us so much when He was here and believe it or not, He still does! So, pray your Rosary and remember to listen to the tips you need to hear and to love (and perhaps even forgive) the people who waited for you to come along. God is waiting to hear from YOU.
