Wednesday of the Second Week in Ordinary Time - Pray For A Steady Hand

Batman needed the Joker.

Superman needed Lex Luthor.

David needed Goliath.

If you have obstacles in your life today see them as opportunities to follow the Lord's will and grow as you overcome them.

Today's reading from 1 Samuel we see David had a steady hand as he slung the stone at Goliath.

Today's Psalm 144, "Blessed be the Lord, my rock." praises the Lord "who trains my hands for battle, my fingers for war."

In the…

Big Bust Leads To Drug Bust (Avoid "Fake It Til You Make It)

There is no delete button on the internet.

Dan Kennedy calls it the "Market-Medium-Message" triangle.

If you try to take short cuts like the dingbat in the story below you will not be happy with the…

Job Search Advice To A New College Graduate

On our LinkedIn Group a young lady that just graduated in Dec 2010 with a degree in religious studies asked for feedback on her "resume." This is what I wrote:

As the Instructor of Harsh Reality (and since you asked) you really don't have a resume. You're a new college graduate with a history of good grades in a niche degree in a tough economy. You are going to have to make your own way or accept an entry-level position in a company that will take you on to prove…

Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Care for the poor.

Trust in the Lord, your refuge.

Imitate the Apostles who imitate the Lord.

Love the Lord and your neighbor.

In today's second reading (1 Thes 1:5c-10) we read how pleased Paul was that they had turned from idols to live as the Lord wanted them to live.

What idols do you need to turn away from:

  • American Idol?
  • Gossip / Celebrity "news"?
  • Pornography?
  • Social…

Endure: The 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time

In today's 2nd Reading (1 Thes 1:1-5b), Paul gives thanks and prays for the Thessalonians for their "work of faith and labor of love and endurance."

Anything in life worth achieving takes time, effort, discipline, focus, sacrifice, attention to detail and love such as:

  • Building a strong marriage.
  • Raising good children.
  • Building a business.
  • Reaching heaven.

We do not know God's ways but we must keep…
