Community At The Intersection Of Catholicism & Capitalism

Philippines: An Attractive Business Location in the Asia Pacific

As more and more nation-states of the Free World tear down national barriers to facilitate free flow of Goods & Services, Foreign Capitalists could look upon the Philippines as an alternative business location.

Herewith are some good reasons to consider: (1st) As a Tropical Country, the Philippines is endowed with its own wide variety of indigenous rich Natural Resources; (2nd) As an archipelago in the Pacific Far East, the Philippines' network of Sea Ports & Airports make convenient logistics points for Inbound & Outbound Cargoes; (3rd) As English-conversant and under-employed, the hospitable Filipino People would welcome foreign-owned legitimate business ventures; (4th) As the Philippine Government encourages Employment-generation, it offers a Package-of-Incentives, in its "preferred" Areas-of-Investments, - inclusive of Duty-free Importation and of Income Tax Holidays, among others; (5th) As Landline & Mobile Telephony progressively become more accessible across the archipelago, much of the Philippines has become connected 24x7 with the outside world; (6th) As the Philippine Central Bank has adapted Monetary Policies supportive of a De-Regulated Monetary Regime, its nationwide network of agent banks, mostly privately-owned, allow "free" inflow & outflow of foreign currencies; (7th) With the advent and advancement of e-Commerce worldwide, the Philippines has become a popular "Outsourcing Destination" for labor-intensive IT-based Service Companies located in the USA, Europe, Japan - ever in search for a cost advantage; (8th) As the Philippine Government issues Student Visas to qualified foreigners, accepted for enrollment by select schools, mostly located in Metro Manila, the Philippines indeed has a multi-national educated-class fast-growing resident population.

Given my varied experiences: (1st) As a Sales & Marketing professional, developed during my Employment Career with Unilever, et. al. decades ago; (2nd) As a frequent in-country traveler familiar with "Channels-of-Trade" throughout the Philippine Archipelago relevant to Manufactured Goods - Food & Non-Food / Consumer & Industrial; (3rd) As having been engaged in rural-based export-oriented cottage-level handloom-woven fashion fabrics making use of indigenous fibers; I now have AsiaManila Consulting - formed in partnership with a Manila-based American Consultant. As I focus upon Business Consultancy for Philippine-based Start-ups & SMEs wanting to go exports, my American Partner specializes on Philippine Energy Policy-making and on advocating use of Renewable Energy - if Technically and Economically feasible.

Ernie,

I have had a full time Filipino programmer for nearly two years and she has been fantastic. As I need more help I will contact you. Thanks for this information.

Wes

I'll await - in God's time.

Ernesto,

Would there be a market for English Language CDs, booklets, pamphlets, books and DVDs about the Catholic faith in parishes of the Philippines?  We do ship abroad to English speaking countries like Australia and the UK.  Of course there would necessarily be a premium because of the costs of shipping, but I would be interested in exploring it to see if it is feasible.

For now, I don't know. As English is an Official Language commonly spoken (& written) almost anywhere in the Philippines, locally printed materials in ENGLISH are easily available in Bookstores. English-Language Catholic Printed Materials are likewise Available-for-Sale in many Parishes. Nevertheless, a Market Research must be done to check if there would be Demand for UK-printed SUPPLY of Catholic Titles - Books &/or Periodicals. BTW, I'm on Facebook - and if you visit my FB Page (Ernesto C del Castillo), you would find that, among my FB Groups, I have "My church Community". If you want, I could include you among my FB Friends - purposely to add you to this "Close Group". Members of "My Church Community" might have something to say about UK-printed Catholic Materials.
