I work for State Farm. Recently, I was appointed the Social Media & Marketing "specialist" for our agency. Wow... what a wonderful & overwhelming feeling! I wasn't educated in marketing & it's a new arena for me.
I read MarketingProfs daily & one of the suggestions in a recent article was to find & invite new clients to your business Facebook page. I liked this idea, but I didnt want to spend my week stalking down our clients (one. that would probably scare them and two. how would I make sure I had the right John Doe).
Instead, I took our list of new clients from the past year - and created a list through our CRM & sent an email to each one inviting them to the page. It's working great!! Just wanted to share!
How do you add/invite your clients to your Facebook page?

So far the biggest boost in like's has come from (1) cross-promotion -- referring to it in email newsletters, twitter posts, etc (2) content offerings -- we did a daily lenten reflection and numbers went up daily and (3) a sweepstakes promotion -- so far we are up about 70 likes and have gotten about 70 email subscribers from offering a modest sweepstakes prize
The biggest tip I got right at the beginning was not to just do a stream of self-promotion. So I post about our products and offerings only about 20% of the time. The rest of the posts are links, reflections, photos, etc that relate to what we do but aren't exclusive to us.
